BODY : SCAPE

Imperfections, often labelled by society, can inflict a great burden, both mental and physical, on those affected. Here I investigate the human body through intimate images of those. I work in black and white to highlight contrasts and textures, transforming details such as the skin and its irregularities into abstract landscapes. I am interested in isolating these fragments of the body from the overall identity, stripping them of all conventional associations. These details, often labelled as ‘flaws’, are instead for me unique elements that tell of strength and vulnerability. I want to invite the viewer to reflect on how society labels imperfections, prompting us to revise our canons of beauty. My photographs aim to bring out the authentic beauty that comes from imperfection, showing bodies that free themselves from judgement.
